Exhibition View: Rockpooling in Muddy Mudlarks exhibition

Muddy Mudlarks is an arts collective led by Christine Chua and Zoey Chang who create exhibitions ‘created for earthlings and by earthlings’.

It was wonderful to see Rockpooling alongside so many fantastic works in the Muddly Mudlarks ‘Lost Art of a Little Earthling’ exhibition. The exhibition featured so many pieces with similar earthy tones, exploring natural objects, the impact and influence of the elements on artworks, and all things primordial, dark and strange.

Treasures from the Thames foreshore were displayed alongside found tree bark enscribed with ‘Algorithmic Rambles’, and totems for spells were presented alongside wonderful watercolours. There was a stunning performance by Freya-Clayton Harding, who donned her ‘Girdle’ made of found objects, wool and pewter.

Rockpooling was on a central lectern for this exhibition which felt wonderful – viewers wandered past and then returned later to rifle through the pages, or stopped for a while to pore over the different seaweeds attached to each page. A wonderful temporary home for this piece.
