Artist book of found and pressed seaweed stitched onto handmade paper, accompanied by intuitive mark-making with oak gall ink. 16 x 21 x 5cm. Accordion fold spine.
Rockpooling is an artist book documenting seaweed found adrift in tidal pools, having broken off from the holdfast and become interlopers in a liminal tidal zone. Each piece of seaweed is pressed and stitched into a book which viewers are invited to touch and explore, ‘reading’ each page like the surface of a rockpool, tracing the edges of a tiny world. Intuitive marks made with oak gall ink and applied with driftwood and seabird feathers accompany some of the pages, reflecting ripples on the water, memories of long ago tides.
